Seeds of Joy 22

Seeds of Joy 2022, built on the 2021 programme, and continued to be co-designed and co-produced by the co-design group, in partnership with Waymarking C.I.C. and MCRactive, which met monthly through the year.

A larger year-long programme of outdoor gardening-focussed seasonal events and activities, was undertaken, aiming to find other local residents who might be interested in gardening, and also to bring together those who were already engaged in gardening in Miles Platting.

  • Local gardeners named the programme Seeds of Joy at a Spring seed sowing event in March

  • One hundred adults and children attended the family activity focussed ‘Spring into Summer’ event in May

  • We trialled Oasis Wellbeing Sessions, exploring mindfulness and creativity in Ridgway Street Community Gardens throughout the summer

  • A growing number of people took part in weekly Blooming Friendly Gardening Sessions, led by Waymarking associate Olivia Glasser

  • In July a Garden Walkabout event was held, where five Miles Platting community gardens were visited during a guided walk around the neighbourhood

  • A family-friendly Autumn Harvest event saw local gardeners displaying their proudest gardening moments

  • In October, 14 local gardeners and co-design group members were individually interviewed 1-1 for feedback on the programme and to hear their ideas and plans for 2023
